So you’ve waxed your skis and renewed your passport for your trip to the Great White North – but have you thought about where you’re going for après after you arrive?

Don’t overthink it. We’ve got some of Whistler’s best right here. Check out our favorite après ski bars and restaurants in Whistler.

Most Unique Experience: Forged Axe Throwing

Après a new way: knock back a beer with one hand, hurl an axe with the other

If you’re looking for a way to shake up your après ski routine, drinking beer while throwing sharp objects is a good way to do it. For a full hour, revel in the cathartic bliss of throwing axes at the wall with (almost) reckless abandon. An instructor will be there to pass along axe-slinging wisdom and make sure your butter-fingered buddy doesn’t accidentally let an axe slip. Don’t forget to make a reservation, as space is limited.

Address: 1208 Alpha Lake Rd Unit 1, Whistler, BC V0N 1B1, Canada

Best Slopeside: Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub

Irish festivity meets mountain town comfort for all things après

The Dubh Linn Gate delivers everything we’d hope for in an après bar – warm atmosphere, comfort food, cheap happy hour drinks, good beer selection, and live music. Located at the base of the gondola, this pub is the spot to park it after a big day out. Start by grabbing a Guinness and then head outside to cozy up by the fire. Make new friends by clinking glasses and cheering “sláinte!” (pronounced slawn-cha), the Irish toast to “health!”

Charcuterie and cocktails calling your name? Make your way to Bar Oso. Spanish-influenced bites and thoughtfully designed cocktails line the menu, but don’t confuse Bar Oso’s elegance with stuffiness. With friendly, knowledgeable staff and a long bar designed to bring guests together, Bar Oso delivers après in unpretentious style. The place fills up, so be sure to get in early or make a reservation.
