Website Mapping for Vagabond Adventures

Project: Website-mapping recommendations for Vagabond Adventures, an established ski school and fast-growing outdoor adventure company based in the country of Georgia

Project Overview:

  • End Goal: To create a website map that guides users to two main offerings — ski lessons and winter adventures

  • Key Tasks:

    • Evaluate whether Vagabond should have one or two websites (one for the ski school and one for the adventure company)

    • Establish website hierarchy

    • Recommend structures and content for individual web pages

  • Results: Produced robust document for my client to reference and provide to web developer responsible for executing the plan*. Document includes summary of recommendations and research, research details, and detailed website map recommendations. Principle findings:

    • Determined that one website would be more straightforward, efficient, and SEO-friendly than two websites, especially given overlap in client-base

    • Determined which pages were universal: About, Reviews, and Booking

    • Determined which pages were distinct and how to nest them

  • My Keys to Success: Rigorous research, UX focus, understanding of audience, logically laid out document detailing website structure and rationale, clear summaries distilling research for my client

*Note: Vagabond website is currently under construction.

Project Highlights

No-Fuss Navigation

As a well-loved ski school with a loyal client base, it’s crucial that Vagabond’s website map makes two things clear:

  1. The ski school continues to operate at Gudauri ski resort, Vagabond’s home base

  2. Vagabond now offers winter adventures across Georgia

Clearly Defined Parent & Child Pages

The scenario to avoid:

A potential client is looking for a snowshoe trip, but she’s forced to view every private ski lesson option because there’s only one parent “activities” page. The potential client is overwhelmed by unnecessary information and abandons ship.

How to do it right:

Easy. Separate into clear parent and child pages, allowing your snowshoe adventurer to find her ideal trip without having to wade through the ski lessons pages.
